The first four museums will be presented publicly in March 2004 at the Potsdamer Platz / Potsdamer Place in Berlin . They then move to Vienna in April and in early summer their first course of travels will probably end in Barcelona . Each city will present their own series of events for the Mobile Museums, which will be curated together with the resident cooperation partner.

The museum community will temporarily occupy an already popular urban space with which visitors and the public will be invited to explore as places of contemplation and heightened awareness.

Each artist will receive a construction kit consisting of modular recycling PVC sheets that they can assemble together to build an individual museum measuring a maximum of 10 square meters.
Due to the modular building method, the artist can construct an accessible structure which forms an independent whole inside and out. The outer structure corresponding to the inner experience.
In 2003 the European Commission selected 'Mobile Museums' as part of their Cultural Programme 2000. This project is to be realized between June 2003 and June 2004.
